The Stimulus Refinance program is only good for 5 years.  If you are offered a modification, the fixed term is only for 5 years, once that time is up the loan will adjust again.  Owner beware, read the fine print!  While the average homeowner only stays in their home for 5 to 7 years this may not work for their homeowner that plans to stay in their home longer.
